Path to Organic Program

In the fall of 2009, we were selected as one of thirteen farm families to receive Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Path to Organic Program funding to help us transition to a USDA certified organic farm.  The funding will help off-set our costs for organic-farming practices education, certified-organic soil amendments, certified-organic cover cropping, and farm building and equipment purchases.   This working capital will assist us in improving our soil health, protecting water quality and sequestering an environmentally friendly farm during a three-year transient period.

For more information about the Path to Organic program, visit Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and click on “Programs” and select “Path to Organic Transition (CFT)” under the program selection menu.
