Farmer Market Nutrition Program

Yesterday, we completed Farmer Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) training offered by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA).  This training included a farm visit by Joe Dugan, Food Distribution Representative from the PDA.  The FMNP provides WIC recipients and eligible seniors with resources in the form of fresh, nutritious, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs from approved farmers’ markets in Pennsylvania.  We expect to receive full approval as a FMNP farm in July which will allow us to accept FMNP checks from WIC recipients and eligible seniors at the Coudersport Farmer’s Market.

For more information about the FMNP, visit Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and click on “Programs” and select “Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) & Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) ” under the program selection menu.

We encourage those who are eligible to receive FMNP to do so. To find out more on how to apply for the FMNP, please visit the following local Solomon’s Blog:  FMNP Posting . Once the Solomon’s Blog window opens, scroll down the page past the advertisements to view the FMNP article.
