Scape Harvest Postponed

Garlic Scapes

The scapes, the curly green, garlic-flavored flower stalks of hard-necked varieties of garlic, are lengthening in the field. Garlic scapes usually are ready to pick by June 10th, but–everything’s running a little late this year. So we have postponed scape harvest because the scapes need more time to grow; they’re not ready to clip off the plant till they curl around. Another week should to do it.
