We had our ‘debut’ as a garlic vendor at the Cuba Garlic Festival this past weekend. We also sold some home-grown Russian Banana Fingerling potatoes. We are very grateful for the festival attendees who bought produce from us over the 2 day festival. And a special thanks go out to Miles Farm Produce for lending support and helping us man the booth. The funniest comment came from a man from Hornell, New York, who upon reading our farm banner which identifies us as a “Potter County, Pennsylvania Homestead’, said “people up Hornell way have an old saying that if someone from Potter County steals your horse don’t go there to try and get it back.” That saying must have originated at a time before Potter County became known as “God’s Country”.
The King and Queen bestowed a visit upon the humble Wooleylot Farm booth in the Kingdom of Garlic. The wise King, upon seeing that we were from Potter County, Pennsylvania the home of Camp Potato and Potato City, immediately asked us “shouldn’t you be selling potatoes instead of garlic?”. Luckily, we had some potatoes to offer him at our display. He seemed to be pleased by this offering and proclaimed “It is Good That You Bring Potatoes into My Garlic Kingdom!” And There Was Much Rejoicing in That Kingdom. — in Cuba, NY.
